In no matter what line of work we are in, the chase to finding meaningful applications of our services and solutions, is always of interest. At Tranglo, we found a number of these opportunities when we’ve been able to employ our services across our global network to provide relief in an immediate way.
Tranglo convened a collaboration between more than 50 mobile operators and resellers globally to facilitate a donation via an acute airtime transfer program, in aid of the devastation of typhoon Haiyan which hit the Philippines on November 8, 2013. The campaign ran for a period of 2 months donating airtime, which Tranglo directly credited into the Philippines Disaster Recovery Foundation, one of the three identified institutional conduits approved by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
Lighter applications of mobile remittance which inevitably also called mobile airtime transfer offer another way of aid most might not expect coming across borders. Take Gyft for example, this aptly named gift exchanging tool keeps the people who are important in your life reminded of your thought of them. In many ways, tools like Gyft is a social building tool, assisting busy lives to still allow time for more gratifying acts.
With a network of over 230 mobile operators in over 82 countries, 400 banks, 7,000 cash pickup outlets, and 11,000 retails points, the possibilities of interconnecting people around the world in infinitely more meaningful ways, is possible.
More recently, Tranglo found itself providing need in a more proactive nature. On 17 August, 2015, Tranglo with partners from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia and the leading Indonesian NGO foundation Dompet Dhuafa, donated a portion of each cross-border airtime remittance to an Indonesian mobile number towards the purchase of school uniforms for the underprivileged school children in Indonesia’s Nusa Tenggara Barat. Tranglo had the pleasure of partnering with Singapore’s SingTel, Malaysia’s TuneTalk and RedTone. The program ran from June to July 2015 with a total of 16 participating schools which benefitted 3,000 school children.
The best kept secret of mobile remittance in any form its timely delivery, security and ease of accessibility.
